About the department

The Department of Child Health Nursing (Paediatric Nursing) develops professional competence in the care of neonates, infants, children, and adolescents. Students learn normal growth and development, preventive paediatrics, immunization, and evidence-based clinical care in paediatric and neonatal units.

To develop professional competence in child health nursing through knowledge, preventive paediatrics, family support, and clinical care of neonates and children.

Department objectives

Develop understanding of the history, modern concepts, and principles of child health and child care.

Identify normal growth and development patterns and recognize deviations.

Describe preventive paediatrics, immunization programmes, and accident prevention.

Demonstrate competency in assessing the health needs of neonates and children.

Plan and implement evidence-based nursing care for common paediatric conditions.

Perform essential newborn care including management of normal and high-risk neonates.

Identify and manage childhood emergencies including basic paediatric CPR.

Provide guidance to parents and families on nutrition, hygiene, and holistic child care.

Apply IMNCI principles and modern clinical technologies in paediatric and neonatal units.

Maintain professional documentation, nursing care plans, and case studies.
